Learn The Truth About Certifications

Kip Boyle
Hiring Manager

Certifications

Certifications are a key item in the hiring process since they are used to quickly filter candidates into “consideration” or “rejection”. If you don’t have a few key certifications (such as CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+ and ITIL 4 Foundation), you can quickly find your resume in the rejection pile. Similarly, if you have to many certifications, a potential employer may dismiss you as “overqualified” or a “certification collector”. Therefore, it is important to identify a few key certifications needed for the role you are applying, and earn those to make it passed the artificial intelligence hiring filters for a chance at an interview.

(Please note, certifications alone will not get you a job, but not having them can prevent you from being even considered.)
